“Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC office was opened in Astana
“Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC office was opened in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
Delegation of “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC headed with the chairman Cavid Qurbanov participated in the event. Mr Cavid Qurbanov stated in his speech at the opening ceremony the importance of the new office that locates at the center of the “East-West” transport corridor. He mentioned that current cargo turnover between China and Europe is close to 106 million tons. Its value is approximately 550 billion USD. These factors indicate that the importance of this road will increase in close future.
Also, he reported that Georgian part of Baku-Tbilisi-Qars road will be finished at the end of current year and this will be positive factor to cargo transfers.
The chairman of “Kazakhstan Railways” Kanat Alpishbayev said that opening of this office will further develop partnership between two states. It will have its positive effect especially in creation of favorable environment for transit cargo and will increase the overall volume of transportation.
Then, at the bilateral meeting, the development issues of “East-West” international transit corridor were discussed and topics included organization of cargo transportation in Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan directions, development of transit capacity of Azerbaijan, and attraction of interested counties. It should be mentioned that today regular meeting Transcaspian International Transport Route (TITR) will be held is Astana.
