“Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC and JSC “Railways of Uzbekistan” discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation.
On March 27, the meeting was held with the delegation headed by the first deputy chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev in the “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC.
During the meeting, the Chairman of CJSC “Azerbaijani Railways” Javid Gurbanov informed the guests about the reforms carried out by Azerbaijan Railways, efforts to strengthen the country’s transit potential and the challenges ahead.
After informing the guests about the country’s involvement in the implementation of international and regional projects, Javid Gurbanov noted that works on the Georgian site of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars are at the final stage. Here, in this regard, we have already conducted a number of test launches, in particular diesel locomotives to the border with Turkey. Tests have shown that the locomotives are moving freely across the line length. Railway route is planned to be opened this year.
According to the order of President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev of December 7, 2015 about ” Acceleration the work at the Azerbaijani part of the “North-South” International Transport corridor” from the station Astara to the Iranian border the new 8.3-kilometer rail line is laid. The test train has recently crossed the Azerbaijani-Iranian border on the new bridge.
At the present time work is continued in Astara . The construction of transshipment terminal and the railway station in the area of 35 hectares are also included in this work.
Then the sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation between CJSC “Azerbaijan Railways” and JSC “Railways of Uzbekistan”.At the meeting Sofik Sadoyev emphasized the importance of further expansion of a bilateral cooperation. As a result of the meeting, protocol on expanding cooperation was signed.
