The bilateral meeting was held in Tashkent
On May 2 Tashkent hosted a bilateral meeting between the first deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan, the chairman of the board of the JSC “Railways of Uzbekistan” Achilbay Ramatov and the chairman of the CJSC “Azerbaijan Railways” Javid Gurbanov.
After welcoming the members of the delegation, Acilbay Ramatov spoke about the works on development of cooperation. According to him, Uzbekistan is interested in the development of branched transport corridors and corresponding work is being carried out in this direction. He highly appreciated the activities of Azerbaijan in the process of implementing international transport corridors.
For its part, Javid Gurbanov congratulated Acilbai Ramatov on his appointment and noted that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to expanding relations with Uzbekistan in all areas including the transport sector.
Talking about the reforms carried out on the Azerbaijani railways, Javid Gurbanov informed the participants in detail about the work to increase the country’s transport potential and the upcoming tasks.
He also informed about the current situation in the implementation of the international and regional projects, noting that the transport corridors Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, “North-South”, “South-West”, and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route are aimed at strengthening the transit potential of the participating countries.
Javid Gurbanov informed the meeting participants about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting that the rejection of the road of peace is further proof of the destructive Armenian position.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the work on attracting additional cargo traffic to the routes running through the territory of Azerbaijan, the prospects for the new China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, as well as the development of bilateral cooperation between the railways of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
