The tripartite meeting took place in Tbilisi
The chairman of the Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov, the chairman of the Georgian Railways JSC Mamuka Bakhtadze and the general director of the Iranian Railways Said Mohammadzade participated in the tripartite meeting which took place in Tbilisi.
The meeting was held in a sincere and friendly atmosphere. The parties discussed the organization (container) cargo transportation from the Persian Gulf region and India to Europe and vice versa (transit through Azerbaijan and Georgia), both on land and with the participation of seaports of Azerbaijan and Iran, as well as issues of freight wagons with the replacement of wagons ( Under the track of 1520 mm and 1435 mm).
It was noted that today a large volume of cargo is transported from the Persian Gulf region and India to Europe and the opposite direction by sea, because of which the transportation period is 30-40 days. With the redirection of cargo traffic through the territories of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Iran, it will be possible to reduce the time of delivery of goods. At the same time, an important factor will be the use on the route of competitive tariff conditions.
During the meeting, it was decided to establish a Working Group on Coordination of Works, to organize container trains on the Poti / Batumi-Astara-Poti / Batumi route (and in perspective: Kazvin-Teheran / Bandar Abbas-Kazvin), and also to negotiate with maritime carriers for optimizing the cost of cargo transportation on the sea sections of the route.
The parties also decided to hold regular meetings on the issues under discussion.
As a result of the event, a tripartite protocol was signed.
