Meeting on the North-South International Transport Corridor was held in Moscow
On November 22-23 the meeting of the working group on the North-South International Transport Corridor was held in Moscow. The meeting was attended by leaders and experts of the railways of Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Iran. The delegation of representatives of Azerbaijan was headed by the deputy chairman of Azerbaijan Railways – Igbal Huseynov. The leaders “ADY Express” and “ADY Container” took part in the negotiations.
At the 4-sided meeting issues such as the implementation of previous decisions of the working group, the prospects for creating a single operator for cargo transportation on the India-Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia route, an assessment of the potential for attracting goods on the route to Belarus and further to Europe, establishing regular maritime communication between India and Iran, the implementation of the Rasht-Astara railway project and tariff conditions for the carriage of goods in the framework of the North-South ITC for 2019. In addition, information was presented on the operation of the Astara cargo terminal in Iran, which is being built by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and on the number and types of cargoes transported through the terminal during 10 months of 2018. The attendees were also provided with information on the construction of the terminal.
At the meeting of the working group, during the discussion of issues of attracting cargo from India to the route, an exchange of views took place on the application of various discounts for the carriage of goods along the North-South International Transport Corridor.
