“ADY Express” attracted a new type of cargo for transportation by Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway
The main task of organizing the transportation process is to attract new cargo to international transport routes through Azerbaijan The “ADY Express” LLC, a subsidiary of the “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC, has started to carry several new types of cargo by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
As a result of the conducted negotiations, this time, as a test, the mixed goods were transported from Turkey to Turkmenistan. The cargo delivered by 12 trucks to the Kars station in Turkey was loaded into four open-top wagons owned by ADY Express and sent to its destination. After changing the wheelset at the Akhalkalaki station in Georgia, the wagons were transported to the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Alat and then delivered by ferry to the port of Turkmenbashi.
About 220 tons of cargo was transported from Turkey to Turkmenistan in 5 days. This means a reduction in transit time by at least half, given the density of traffic on roads and borders. This can be attributed to the speed and agility of the railroad, along with the traffic generated on the roads and the density of vehicles across borders. ”ADY Express” will transport another 50,000 tons of this cargo via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
