A meeting was held between the heads of Azerbaijan and Georgia Railways
A meeting was held at the “Azerbaijan Railways” Closed Joint Stock Company with the delegation led by the General Director of “Georgia Railways” JSC, David Peradze. Chairman of the “Azerbaijan Railways” Closed Joint Stock Company Javid Gurbanov spoke about the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia railways, transport and logistics opportunities, and the reforms carried out on the railway. He gave detailed information about the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway connection, the North-South and South-West transport corridors, the International Trans-Caspian transport route. According to the head of the Railway Department of Azerbaijan, the strengthening of international routes is aimed at increasing the transit potential of the participating countries. Speaking about the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Javid Gurbanov noted that this route is global and is the shortest and most reliable way of connecting Europe with Asia. For this reason, interest in this route has increased since its commissioning. Then, discussions on the prospects of cooperation between the two countries were held. David Peradze, General Director of “Georgian Railways” JSC, said that the launch of this railway is the greatest contribution to stability in the region, closer relations between our peoples and economic development. At present, using the capabilities of this route, cargo is transported from China, Central Asia to Turkey and in the opposite direction, passing through Azerbaijan and Georgia. At the end of the meeting, a protocol was signed on the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation.
