ADY Express increased the volume of cargo transshipment at the Astara terminal

ADY Express LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, which operates the Astara cargo terminal in the Islamic Republic of Iran, was able to increase the volume of cargo transshipment.
In 2020,the total volume of cargo transported at the Astara terminal amounted to 422,100 tons or 8,918 wagons, which means an increase by 16% more than in 2019. Thus, in 2019 it was 363 842 tons.
On average, in 2020, the volume of daily cargo transshipment amounted to 1,384 tons or 29 wagons at the Astara cargo terminal.
The main types of cargo transported for a year were wood and wood products(37%), construction materials (20%, cement, clinker, tiles, etc.), fruits and vegetables (13%), containers (11%), cereals (8% , barley, grain, wheat and lentils), and other goods (11%).
Most of the cargo passing through the Astara cargo terminal, within the North-South International Transport Corridor, belongs to Russia and Iran. During the last year, 75% of cargo were transit cargo transported through the territory of Azerbaijan.
