The prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan railways were discussed
A meeting with the delegation of Kazakhstan was held at Azerbaijan Railways CJSC. The meeting focused on Azerbaijan’s transport, logistics and transit potential, as well as the work done to expand and reconstruct the railway network. The guests got acquainted with a video reflecting large-scale projects in various areas of the railway.
Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov informed about the reforms implemented in the country’s steel highways, the railway lines restored as part of the construction work in Karabakh. He noted that Azerbaijan is using its geopolitical position to become a major transport hub.
The head of the delegation, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for International Cooperation Yerzhan Kazikhan said that they took part in discussions on various topics during their visits to Azerbaijan. He emphasized the importance of the further development of the International Trans-Caspian Transport Route, optimization of transportation through this corridor, as well as flexible and fast multimodal transportation. He said that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line will reduce the time and distance of cargo delivery from China via Kazakhstan to Turkey and Europe, as well as in the opposite direction.
Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Railways Nurlan Sauranbayev drew attention to the transport and transit opportunities of both countries, also the positive dynamics of freight transportation by rail.
It was noted that the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity opens up new transit opportunities. Kazakhstan is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan in the transport sector, as in all areas. The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the work done to strengthen the activities of international routes and increase the volume of traffic and transit capacity on these corridors. Representatives of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC and Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC discussed various issues at the meeting.
