Bulgaria is interested in cargo transportation to Europe via BTK
Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of Bulgaria Velik Zanchev and Director, Directorate for European Coordination and International Cooperation Nadezhda Bukhova met with Chairman of “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC Javid Gurbanov. The Chairman of the society informed the guests about the East-West and South-West transport corridor, as well as the importance and prospects of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is an important element of the projects. At the meeting, the cooperation proposals on moving through the territory of Bulgaria on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route and cargo transportation to Europe via a ferry across the Black Sea were discussed. Speaking about the ongoing work in Bulgaria on the modernization of the railway infrastructure, Velik Zanchev noted that the renovation work is planned to be completed by 2025. The Chairman of “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC Javid Gurbanov welcomed the offer of cooperation. Further, the sides exchanged views on the prospects of this issue in the context of mutual interests.
Nadezhda Bukhova, Director, Directorate for European Coordination and International Cooperation under the Ministry of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Bulgaria, said there was great potential in terms of strengthening bilateral economic relations. She also expressed interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the framework of international transport and transit corridors.
